Working with Border Collies in rescue is equal parts uplifting, exhausting, and unintentionally comedic. These dogs are brilliant, sensitive, quirky, and occasionally capable of outsmarting

every human on the premises—including the one holding the treat bag.


The Positives:

  • Watching nervous, shut-down collies slowly switch back on—ears lifting, tails loosening, eyes brightening as they realise the world isn’t as scary as they thought.


  • Seeing the clever ones finally use their intelligence for good, not just for unlocking doors, scaling fences, or reprogramming the baby gate.


  • The moment an anxious collie chooses to trust you—that quiet nuzzle that feels like winning an Olympic medal.
