Tarsha’s Story

On 31st March 2025, Dr. Sun (the Dog Meat Trade Charity vet based in China) contacted them about a frail Dachshund girl in a rescue yard. They reached out to her as they didn’t have the resources to help her. She had been found on the streets a few weeks earlier. She had been used in the horrific Dog Meat Trade as a breeding bitch.

Repeated litters, being kept in appalling conditions and poor diet, had likely stripped her body of all its strength. When her spine broke, she was discarded on the street to die....but Tarsha was strong and dragged herself around, looking for shelter and food, and survived long enough to be found. Sadly, when dragging her body around she had stripped the skin and hair from her hindquarters, back legs, and feet. Her ears were also badly infested with ear mites. Immediate skin treatments and ear treatments were started whilst they vets looked further into her paralysis.

The charity didn’t know if there was any hope for her, but they took her on as they always say, “No Dachshund Left Behind.”
