A homeless cat with such a severely swollen abdomen that she appeared pregnant has received life-saving surgery after being spotted by quick-thinking members of the public. She was found in Harrold-Odell Country Park and referred to Cats Protection's volunteer-run Wellingborough & Rushden Branch for help.

Understanding of a dog's lived experience continues to grow, particularly around their need for secure attachments and safety, which is felt most acutely by dogs going through the rescue system. Dogs that have been relinquished often lose established social connections, and even insecure attachments from a previous home can matter to their need to feel connected.
Dinks, an emaciated stray cat found on the outskirts of Horncastle, has recovered into a healthy tabby thanks to the care of Cats Protection's North East Lincolnshire & District Branch. The roughly ten-year-old cat was taken in after being discovered in a sorry state.
New research estimates almost 362 million cats and dogs are homeless across the 20 countries studied, highlighting the global scale of pet homelessness. The project, launched with Mars Petcare, aims to end pet homelessness, says Global President Loïc Moutault.
