In 2005 I was clicking through the World Wide Web when Paul McHugh came to a page totally by accident that caught his eye, it was a seller’s page offering a device that could detect if a child or family pet fell into a back-yard pool. He thought what a fantastic idea and why had he never heard of it or seen it advertised on TV! The device in question was the Safety Turtle such a fantastic product which inspired Paul to contact Mr Bob Lyons the inventor and ask if he could sell the Safety Turtle in the UK.
July 2005 was the launch date of Safewater alarms Limited a company that started with the Safety Turtle but now sells one of the biggest “Tried and Tested” drowning protection products in the UK.
Their site is there not just to sell but to inform and educate about the dangers that water can pose, not just the back-yard pool but the paddling pool, the blow up spa or the forgotten bucket filled with rainwater.

Their website is dedicated to child and pet safety products as well as safety information and safety videos.
Director Paul McHugh said ‘What makes us different from other sites is we don't just sell, we also try and educate our readers. We do our best to update our website on up to date information on child safety and child protection.
